Racing through the day from my first waking gasp
jumping as the alarm screamed
showering efficiently to let my bed partner have space for water
rushing to pack lunches and pour coffee
Dear God! Did I look outside?
Does the car need to warm up?
Do I need to relocate freshly fallen snow?
Do I need to find a scarf or hat?

This. This has been reshaped – molded – melted into

Yawning and stretching as the sunlight peeks through the blinds

Stumbling down the hallway to pour a cup of coffee
that was politely waiting on the warming pad of the programmable pot

And easing into the day grateful        I           can

breathe
